Granite Chief Ski & Mountain Shop is proud to welcome back Hazen Woolson as a member of the Granite Chief Athlete Team. He's a great skier, ambassador of the sport, and an all around pretty rad dude. Here's a littl more about Hazen in his own words.

Here's the scoop:hazenface

My name is Hazen Woolson, I’m 30 years old and living in Tahoe City. I grew up skiing mountains in Vermont and New Hampshire. These days I call Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley and Boreal home. I am chief motivator, filmer, photographer, editor, and social media boss for Janky Films, Which has been a hobby project for the last 10 years. I am also a co-founder of AlpenCreative while serving and doing social media for Christy Hill Lakeside Bistro.

"Skiing is more fun with friends"

Janky Films sums up my journey through the ski world for the last ten years. Together with my friends, I’ve been searching out fun adventures, fresh powder, steep lines, cliffs, and new places to see. It has kept me pushing myself as an athlete, and as an artist it’s allowed me to convince my friends to push themselves as well.

There have been many highlights over the past seasons. If I had to narrow it down there are two in particular that stand out in my mind. The first is our film “Boot Deep!” about living in Little Cottonwood Canyon in Alta, UT for the 2011 season. That was the film that put Janky on the map. It featured a ton of different skiing styles and portrayed the many fun lifestyles in the canyon. The second is hitting Pyramid Gap, an iconic 90+ foot gap jump in the Alta backcountry that may have been the scariest moment of my life.

My goals for this season are simple. I’m aiming to make a film or series of edits that document the beauty of winter and skiing in the Sierra. We are so lucky to live and ski in a place like Tahoe, and I love sharing that passion through video. Keep an eye on the Janky Films website and Facebook page!
