Infrared For The Win

Ski waxing can become somewhat of a chore when you do it alone in the garage. Or maybe you’re one of those people that never wax (you should be taking care of those skis!) Either way the ski techs here at Granite Chief have you covered. Welcome to the infrared waxing world.

This waxing process is Similar to a “hot box” treatment where your skis soak up wax for hours while hanging sitting in a heated box. For the same desired effect the infrared light moves slowly over the ski. This allows the base to heat evenly; unlike the “hot spots” you get with an iron. Once the light heats the ski it creates the ideal environment for the wax to soak deep into the pours giving you that effortless glide on the snow. Thanks to this slow and even heating process our ski techs are able to “crayon” on the wax. This drastically cuts down waist without sacrificing any performance. After the skis cool for several minutes they get a light scrape. Scrapping too soon can pull the wax from the pours of the ski, which is not what you want. After the scrape the skis get brushed and are ready to rock.

So bring your skis in to Granite Chief before your next trip to the snow and experience what its like to have faster, healthier skis under your feet. We think you’ll instantly become a believer in the benefits of a high performance wax and there is not better place in town to count on than Granite Chief. See ya on the slopes!
