wwrsa demo day

While most people were relaxing in comfortable, temperature-controlled offices, the Granite Chief shop crew was hard at work testing skis, boots, and other winter gear to make sure we can bring you the finest for next season. It’s a tough job but, someone’s gotta do it.

With unseasonably warm temperatures hitting the Sierras this week, smiles and sunburns were in no short supply as shop employees from all over the region hit up the slopes of Mt Rose for the WWSRA Northern California Demo. The beer was flowing, the brats were grilling, and plenty of skiing was had by all involved. In between all the hilarity and hijinks, the Granite Chief crew was able to make great strides in finding the best of next year’s ski selection. While I won’t give away the results of all our testing, that’s for a future article, I will say that there were quite a few surprises in just about every category.

Right now you might be thinking, “well huh, reviews are all well and good, but I want to get out and try some of these new skis for myself!” And you know what? I wouldn’t even blame you. There’s definitely nothing like getting hands-on, or rather foot-on in this case, experience on a pair of skis. There’s just something about clicking in, hopping on that lift, and slashing your way down a slope that can’t be replaced by all the expert reviews and testimonials in the world.

If you’re looking into getting some new skis for next season, and trying them out sounds like fun, you’re in luck. Granite Chief Ski & Mountain Shop will be hosting its annual on-snow demo days up at Squaw Valley soon. You can come out, try out next year’s skis, and even purchase next year’s gear at a substantial discount! And we’ll make you food! How amazing does that sound?
