This winter was a little different than past seasons due to low snow and then being hit with the Coronavirus. Ski season was cut short as all ski resorts shut down and we were ordered to stay at home. Even so, Granite Chief athlete, Caelan Dierman, still had a great season before it all came to an abrupt end! Here's a little recap of how his season went:

"I started the season off competing at Sugar Bowl in the TJFS (Tahoe Junior Freeride Series) where I placed 13th. After that, I went to the next stop of the TJFS at Kirkwood where I placed 15th. Then there was a dry spell and all the snow became really icy so TJFS ended up calling it on the Mt. Rose comp. I decided to go to Boise, Idaho to compete in a 2 run regional comp. On my first run, I fell on a landing and didn't finish my run. However, the next day I skied really good and ended up placing 4th. With the two combined results, I came out 21st overall. Back home, I did my first national comp at Kirkwood where I qualified 10th but fell on my last air in my finals run. I ended up getting 15th overall. For what would be my last comp for the season I went to the Alpine meadows TJFS where I had a pretty good run with a nice 25 to 30 footer right in the finish corral. I ended up placing 13th there. All of this ended up putting me in 18th place in the far west region and 136th in North America. This was my first season in the 15 -18 age group. I had a great time hanging with everyone and just sending and making friends, this was truly my best season yet."

With this being Caelan's first season in the upper age group we are so excited to see what he does over the next couple years with his skiing! Thanks for taking the time to give us a little recap of your season and we wish you the best of luck next year!
