Across the state, California is reeling from torrential rainfall and massive, unrelenting snow storms. Yes, the 7 year drought is OVER! As ski areas are racking up snow totals, skiers are crusading to the mountains in record numbers.

Some areas of the Sierra Nevada are boosting 500 plus inches of the white stuff. What is it like to manage that much snow? It's rough; digging out ski lifts, early morning blasting to trigger avalanches for snow safety, grooming all night long, bumping chairlifts to avoid ice build up on the cables, digging out your car before and after loading your dog. Life in the mountains is not easy but at the same time, all this snow sets us up for some great skiing and a very long ski season.

Mammoth Mountain announced last week that the ski area will remain open through July 4, 2020. Squaw Valley is also on the band wagon for multiple four season skiing. If it keeps coming who knows, we could be skiing until the end of time.

Mount Rose ski area is at the top of the snow pile reporting 636 inches, next up is Boreal with 584, and Kirkwood with 556 inches. The full length of the Sierra Nevada is experiencing a heavenly snowfall year and that's pretty awesome when you consider we still have March and April ahead of us. Tahoe locals will tell you that March is typically the most reliable month for snow. So who knows, we could being skiing into an endless ski season. Now that would be a first!

Enemy of the people, east coast news source, the Washington Post, is claiming west coast media reporting alternative facts about bottomless powder skiing at California ski areas.  Claiming only pothead Californians could come up with tall tales of devastating drought now a distant memory and 135 billion gallons of runoff bringing Lake Tahoe to capacity in 40 days and 40 nights. Grab your children, jump on a plane, load up the family mini van and head to the Garden of Epic Skiing. Take in a mouthful of pow straight from the source. Experience the refreshing feeling of snow in your ears, mouth, eyes, and underpants. Glory awaits you in California.
