Each Spring the ski industry hosts a demo day promoting the next season’s ski line up. It is a great opportunity to ski test new models and updated skis within lines that we already carry. Plus it's a time when we tryout some of the new indie ski company startups. Black Crows wasn't even on our radar yet.

The last couple of years we added Armada, Faction and DPS to Granite Chief’s ski wall. This was a year when we weren’t particularly looking to add new brands; our focus was going to be on new models and technology changes within our existing bread and butter brands. We are also careful not to jump on a new indie brand too early in its development years. Often times both us and the consumer get burned by a young company that has yet to get all of their ducks in a row when it comes to financing, quality control and factory warranty issues. We often hold off jumping on the bandwagon until the company has proven their staying power in the industry.

So last spring we developed our list of must test skis and to be honest Black Crows was not on the list. With that said a couple of our staff grabbed a pair of Black Crows to make the last ski runs of the day. After the first run the response was, “Umm, this is a nice ride, let’s take another run”. After the second run it was more like, “I think we have a winner here”. That night during cocktail hour as we sat around and compared notes, Black Crows kept popping up in the conversation. So much so that we decided to put the entire team on them. At the end of the day we new we were going to add them to our lineup.

Black Crows skis, with Chamonix as their backyard, were developed and ski tested with a full understanding of big mountain skiing. That same style skiing is the essence of Tahoe skiing, charging hard, steep lines, plowing through feet of fresh snow, and Black Crows can handle it all. The tips and tails are a bit softer than some other hard charging brands but it allows the skier a very natural position on the skis. The underfoot flex is relatively stiff and gives a very quick response. Black Crows is a ski that can handle all conditions but won’t beat you up doing it. These are terrific skis that a good skier will fully appreciate in a variety of conditions.

The Black Crow models that our crew decided to add to our ski wall and demo center are:
The Corvus at 109mm underfoot. The Orb at 91mm underfoot. A the women’s Ova Birdie at 85mm underfoot. Come in and try a pair or two from our demo fleet, we think you will be impressed with Black Crows skis, we are.

Demo testers that took notice of Black Crows ski performance:
Darren Padgett, Jesse Cassidy, Tyler Delumyea, John Darby and Herb Manning.
