DEMO DAY & BBQ
Date: Squaw Valley Lodge 201 Squaw Peak Road, Olympic Valley, CA 9am to 3pm PLEASE PARK IN SQUAW VALLEY PARKING LOT, there is no parking at Squaw Valley Lodge.  Join us in celebrating our 30th year of our Demo Day & BBQ. For 30 years our Ski Service Card Members have been testing next year's skis, getting a pre-season discount, and chowing down at our end of the season spring BBQ. We depend on your feed back on what skis you think are HOT and which are not. Your passion for skiing helps us with next year's ski line up. Sign up starts at 9am in the Squaw Valley Lodge Meeting Room. Take each ski out for 2 or 3 runs and let us know what you like. When you purchase your skis for next year we'll give you a preseason discount and your new skis will be ready for pickup next fall. This is a great opportunity to talk with our Granite Chief staff, the ski manufacture reps, select your perfect ski....and have lunch on us. Date: 6:30pm to 8:30pm  Each year we look forward to hosting the Wine & Cheese Ski Season Kick Off party for our friends with the Tahoe Donner Senior Ski Club. The ski club is made up of wild and crazy diehard skiers over the age of 55. Ski Club membership includes ski trips, ski clinics, and lots of fun get togethers. Date: Evening Run 6pm Martis Creek  Stop by Granite Chief and check out the Trail Running Tour Trailer with 200 pair of Salomon running shoes. Try them on, get the Salomon Rep's technical information, and you can demo them on our evening trail run. Salomon's trailer will be at Granite Chief from 1pm to 4:30 then at 6pm we are meeting in the parking lot at Martis Creek on hwy 267 for a 3k & 5k evening run. Run at your own pace, it's not a race, and demo the best running shoes on the market.  When you stop by Granite Chief to check out the shoes you can enter your name to win a pair of XR Mission trail running shoes. Or you can enter at the start of the run at Martis Creek. Date: Tie up your boat, raft, kayak alongside the Tahoe Gal & party with Mumbo Gumbo  The Tahoe Gal is the stage and Mumbo Gumbo is the party. The Gal will be moored just south east of the Tahoe City Marina. There is limited seating on the Tahoe Gal but you can bring your own boat and float alongside. Rafts, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, air mattress, or yachats; it doesn't matter how big your boat is the party will be even bigger. Date: Beautiful North Lake Tahoe  Thirty Years...can you believe it? We all look forward to the biggest winter event of the year, Snowfest. One exciting event after the other, 10 full days of fun in the snow for all ages. North Lake Tahoe Snowfest is a community event for locals and vacationers a like. Parades, parties, fireworks, music, and lots of ski fun at Tahoe's best ski areas; Squaw Valley, Northstar, Homewood, Alpine Meadows, and Diamond Peak. The 31st annual North Lake Tahoe SnowFest! Kicks off tonight under the stars, and on the snow! People come out of the woodwork to see the torchlight parade and fireworks display that take place tonight. Come join in the fun and see Squaw's Mountain lit up with skiers and incredible colors above! If you are out there early, go by the KT-22 Sundeck to hear the sounds of the Space Cowboys DJ's, and stay to listen the them dropping the beats down heavy afterwards inside! Date: Social 6:30 and Program 7:00 to 8:30pm The Resort at Squaw Creek in Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe Tickets: SVI Members $10 and Non-Members $15   Conrad Anker is an elite American climber, mountaineer, and author. He is famous for his challenging ascents around the world, including in the Himalaya and Antarctica. Conrad is a member of The North Face climbing team and works closely with Timex Expedition as a brand ambassador. He also was a key member of the search team that located the remains of legendary British climber, George Mallory, on Mount Everest. Jennifer Lowe-Anker is a wonderful artist, her work is a whimsical interpretation of nature and her love of her home state of Montana. She is also the author of the best selling book, Forget Me Not. Jennifer wrote the book after the death of her first husband Alex Lowe. Lowe, also a famous alpinist, was killed in an avalanche in the Himalaya. Her husband Conrad was with Lowe at the time of the accident. This event promises to be an evening of grand stories of mountaineering, love, courage and family, definitely a night to remember. Event: July 2nd, Saturday 8am Riverview Park in Truckee The Truckee Running Festival, presented by Big Blue Adventure, has something for every runner in your group or family. A 5k, 10k and half marathon for adults and a kid run for your young runners. All proceeds from the Kid Run will be donated to The Truckee Trails Foundation. Pre-registration is at Granite Chief in Truckee as well as bib pickup. We will be giving away a pair of men's and women's XR Crossmax running shoes. Granite Chief Truckee 4:30 to 5:00pm Demo Shoe Pickup Carpool to Regional Park or meet us there, group run starts at 6pm. Salomon's XR Crossmax Demo Trailer will be in our parking lot with 80 pairs of the XR Crossmax Running Shoes. Salomon's new shoe is setting the running world on it's ear. Try on some shoes, talk with the company techs, and join us for a fun group run along the Legacy Trail. Put the XR Crossmax to the test on both pavement and trail. We'll carpool over to Regional Park and run from there. Short on time? You can meet us there and we'll head out right around 6 o'clock. You can run as long or as short as you like, this is a casual run and a great opportunity to try out Salomon's door to trail flagship shoe. Angulo Paddleboard Demo & Instruction
Donner Lake West End Beach John Darby and our friends at Angulo Paddleboards will be at West End Beach on Donner Lake with a variety of paddleboards, (SUP). This is a great way to try out paddleboarding, demo these great boards and make Darby give you some paddleboard instruction. If you can't make it to this event we have demos/rentals available through the store all summer long. Find out what all the paddleboard buzz is all about and don't forget your sunscreen! A Hilarious Event Celebrating the Life of the Immortal Shane McConkey At Squaw Valley USA Free event as long as you have a valid Squaw Valley day ticket or season pass Check out a hilarious action packed event inspired by Shane McConkey. Watch a 30 pro skiers such as JT Holmes, Jeremy Jones, Scott and Robb Gaffney, and Darron Rahlves as they compete in the Extreme Small Mountain Snowlerblade Competition, and when the pros take on thirty amateurs in the Snowlerblade Chinese Downhill, both events exclusively competed on K2 Fatty Snowblades. Team Night is traditionally the big preseason party for ski competitors of all ages and disciplines. Our prices for competitive skiers are the best you’ll find anywhere. Brands like Rossignol, Salomon, Volkl, K2, Blizzard, Nordica, Tecnica, Marker & Scott all will be available to certified team members at specially discounted prices. It’s our once a year event designed to make competing more affordable. Factory reps and race techs as well as our own boot expert, Gunner Wolf and tuning expert Soren will be on hand for questions on gear , fitting and tuning. Granite Chief is also offering discounts on all footbeds, custom orthotics, canting, lifting, planeing and tuning. Gunner Wolf has fit more world cup boots than anyone in the area.
